Approach

What will our meetings be like?

In our first few sessions, I will ask you many questions— I want to get to know you, your journey, your dreams, your goals, and what’s brought you to therapy. From there, our work together will become more fluid. We can adapt our sessions to meet your needs.

Some things that might be helpful to know:

  • I will not hit you with the silent, blank stare that TV therapists love to employ. Our work together will be interactive, exploratory, even playful at times.

  • Talking is great, but it can gloss over things. For that reason, I incorporate creative methods, such as drawing, writing, visualization, role-play, and mindfulness into our practice.

  • Structure is our friend. As we work together, we’ll set goals, discuss process, and make sure to create a structure that works for you.

  • Flexibility is also our friend! Our conversations will make space for the unexpected. Tangents are welcome.

  • Therapy is a collaborative process. We will work together to make sure that our sessions meet your needs. Your presence and feedback are vital and appreciated!

  • I strive to make my practice inclusive and affirming to people of all identities and backgrounds. To support this, I work to continually build my own learning and accountability around personal biases and privilege.

Let’s schedule a 15-minute consultation to see if working together feels like a good fit. I’m looking forward to talking with you

I strive to honor each person’s life experiences, preferences, backgrounds, and identities. There’s beauty in each of our life stories.

Curious about techniques?

  • I recently finished IFS (Internal Family Systems) Level 1 training. We will incorporate parts-work into our meetings.

  • I’ve trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and we will utilize aspects of this in our work together (we may talk about limited thinking patterns).

  • I’ve trained in Expressive Therapies; we will incorporate some metaphor and creativity into our work.

  • I utilize aspects of coaching and positive psychology. These approaches allow us to focus on action, as well as insight.
